I decided to organize this group in a home setting since it's more comfortable than a hard seat at a coffee shop. The purpose of this group is to have like minded individuals to share ideas, friendships and to create different projects for charity. … We work very closely with all of the local charities who stage walking, jogging and running events, and we put on our own running events a few times per month. We have nearly 800 members from 18 states, and we are always delighted to have new friends to walk, jog and run with. … What we have discovered is that the majority of our homeless are not there by choice, and just want the opportunity to go back to work. Often times we find they have been mugged or just lost their identification, so we help quite a bit of homeless to get new documents (birth certificate, SSC, ID, etc). I could not find a group in my area that both knits and contributes to the community so I decided to form one myself. There are many great organizations out there that will take donated knitted items.
